...accepting what is...

"when you do not accept what actually is,
where does that leave you?
you need then something else to take its place.
the faculty of producing something else
is what we call the mind.
and then a long chain starts--
a series of actions and reactions.,
being and not being,
good and evil, death and suffering.
all these come into being
as links of that chain.
how are they produced?
by denial.
by denying what is.
by negating it.
by creating something else in its place."

this heavy frost is
telling me...
winter is waiting
at the edge.
i will be creating a sunny, sandy beach
in my mind today.
for lots of sun which produces shadows...
have an awesome weekend...
maybe catch you tomorrow for coffee.
just BE.

Without the dry leaves, without the cold winds - without these, the promise of warmth and new leaves of spring would be empty, indeed. We in the north crave spring, so winter must reappear so we may enjoy the new life yet again...

Love the photo with the touch of gold light from behind. Beautiful composition. Love and agree intellectually with the words, but for the heart it is so hard.

Magic hint of fragmented light on the leaf! A very moving image! And your words challenge us to survive what we don't like by imaginative scenes that bright quiet happiness to our soul!

I agree with Ralph, this is why we stay North, it makes the Spring so much more glorious and it takes a little away from the ego constantly wanting perfection...if we lived in Florida, we would be longing for Winter's cool breezes up North...right...am I deluding myself...I'd move back to Florida in a hot minute...but then I'd really miss the black dirt of the Midwest and the Autumn clematis and tomato season...sigh...well I can dream can't I...I must be having a seasonal reaction to the woolies, we haven't had a frost yet, but boy is it hard to paint outside when it's only 40...brrrr...I think I've talked myself into a hot chocolate...how 'bout you???

Hey Tilda, been wonderin' about that chair...ha!

See ya lil' sis...

Beautiful shot of the leaf, and just think that as your part of the world is getting colder, we are waiting for much needed warm and sunny days.

Such a beautiful photo. I'll trade your heave frost and real winters for these sunny, HOT Florida beaches any day!

Love the frost on the outside of that leaf...with that sun hitting the underside of it, warming it - a perfect shot for fall :) It is beginning to be that time again...time to start up the furnace!! Happy Sunday!
