...shades of brown...

shades of brown...
sepia
cream colored coffee
toffee bar
dark chocolate morsels
wet sand
walnuts
puddles of mud after a rain shower
crystals of brown sugar
sun bronzed skin after a day on the beach
leather...
shades of brown...
an awakening...
shades of brown...
an opening to the earth's sole...
lending to new life...
goodbye to winter's cold whiteness...
hello to the possibilities of spring...
to color...
to new possibilities within my own soul.
i wait for spring
i am grateful for shades of brown.
just BE.

I have to work at accepting the browns right now. I must fight the eagerness for the bits of green. I had hoped for my forsythia, planted late last summer, but the deer kindly "pruned" it for me.

Sometimes I figure you must live fairly close. The landscapes are recognizable, yet not.

Hi Laurie~
We are on 19 mile road as it dead end's towards the highway... so how close are we???

Pretty close I think - within a few miles. We're on 210th at the Hibma end.

Hubby lived on 210th growing up...the big white house with the stone porch...front yard full of pines. Left hand side of the road as you are going North. My grandparents use to live in that dark green house that is just a little south of the white house...So Very cool...I know your area well!!! Have you ever been to High Button Shoe???

No I haven't. I don't even know what it is. We're the house with the big sailboat out front. Now it's in a big shed, but most folks know when I tell them about the boat. It's been there a number of years now. David is hoping to get to work on it a lot this spring and maybe we'll actually get it in the water.

I do know the house with the stones. I like that house.
